Accessibility

According to Concrete5’s documentation the main areas where editors have some control over accessibility are:

  • Link text
  • Image alt text

Good link text describes the destination of the link, as succinctly as possible, without relying on context outside of the link text (because screen readers can read out all links on a page). So, instead of “To see our application form, click here#”, you might write “Please see our application form”.

WebAim have good additional link text guidance.

Good image alt text provides the same information as the image, as succinctly as possible. If an image is just decorative or illustrative of information already conveyed in the text of the page, it should have an empty alt attribute to indicate to screen readers that it can be ignored.

WebAim have some good, more extensive alt text guidance.
