– : Competition Preparation Week
During Competition Preparation Week, members of the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 team, delegates from the 76 Member countries and regions of WorldSkills International, and senior figures from the organization meet to plan and discuss important details of this year’s Competition. It’s a chance for all those taking to examine and rehearse their plans for October, as well as to build confidence and excitement for the choice of Abu Dhabi as host city for the 44th Competition.

: One School One Country Launch
One School One Country is an international cultural exchange programme. Every team coming to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi has been paired with one of the city’s schools. From now until the event in October, students and Competitors will discover each other’s cultures, traditions, and values. The pairings between Abu Dhabi schools and members countries are announced during the launch event at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel.

: Schools Programme
The “Students as Visitors Programme”, supported by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), encourages students from schools across the UAE to come to the competition in October. From February until the eve of the Competition, we will visit schools around the country, letting students know about the variety of exciting events on offer when they attend WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, including opportunities to try new skills and get career advice. For students, the schools programme is their first step of the journey to their future.

: One School One Country
One School One Country, the programme designed for cultural exchange between students on the host country and Member countries/regions, began in January. On the morning of October 12 and the eve of the competition, students from nearly 60 Abu Dhabi schools welcome Competitors from a WorldSkills Member country or region to their school. Together they learn more about each other’s culture, traditions, and values as well as discovering more about the skilled careers represented at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

: Opening Ceremony
WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 will begin with a spectacular Opening Ceremony that will gather thousands of Competitors, officials, and guests together to watch the Parade of Nations and a welcome to Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates. : Closing Ceremony
Who will be the skills Medallists of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017? The Closing Ceremony will reveal the winners of gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with Medallions for Excellence, and the coveted Albert Vidal Award for the Competitor with the highest overall points. The Closing Ceremony is a time celebrate and to say farewell to old and new friends of the 44th WorldSkills Competition, while looking forward to Russia and WorldSkills Kazan 2019.
